12 days of Christmas~ Self LOVE challenge ~ DAY 7

Its day 7!! woot…. I’m feeling super charged up with self love~ and I’m hoping its spreading its way outwards to you. Are you feeling the vibes yet?

For Day 7 of the 12 days of Christmas ~Self Love Challenge, I’m going to throw my inspiration hands up to this young lady, Ms. Ana and her hawk “Caspian” (insert WOW factor here)

Yes, this 17 yr old lady is standing in my yard with a real live hawk on her head. Isn’t she just awesome?! Well let me tell you this awesome sauce for her began a young age when she picked up a book called. “My side of the Mountain” by Jean Craighead George. If you haven’t read the book, it tells the tale of a young boy who learns independence, courage, and the incredible skill of falconry while living in New York state forests by himself. Pretty darn inspiring ey?

So why do I bring this up? Well because for day 7’s SELF LOVE CHALLENGE…I’m inviting you to pick up a book you’ve always wanted to read and read the first chapter of it. Yes, I mean today. Just that ONE chapter.

What does this have to do with self love?

ALOT.

You know I like studies, so here’s a sweet one to check out by Dr Josie Billington at the University of Liverpool.

“The research found that people who read for 30 minutes a week are 20% more likely to report greater life satisfaction than those who do not, while readers are 21% less likely to report feelings of depression and are 10% more likely to report good self-esteem than non-readers.”

Well that alone sounds pretty convincing to me….but there’s more!

Lets raise the SELF LOVE standards another notch shall we? How about increased empathy, improved relationships with others and reduced symptoms of depression and even dementia?! Yes, reading does all of that too!! Check out this study’s findings.

Pretty incredible stuff!

That, my dearies, is why I added READING to your self love challenge, because who couldn’t use some improve relationships and reduced depression symptoms to fuel their self love?! Reading for PLEASURE instead of for school work makes all the difference. I mean don’t stop reading for school work, please do that too, but what I’m saying is in addition to…read something that makes you happy.

If you’re looking to read some cool books on boosting your self confidence. Check out these finds!!
