Must-Have Images for Your Personal Branding Website
Regardless of the type of business you start or the services you offer, you must have a website. What visuals should you put on this website though is a question I am often asked. You may have all the right copy in place, but what should you do in terms of visual imagery?
Consider that visuals are processed by the brain much faster than copy writing, which is why they are a critical element for any website.
Here are my top 4 recommendations for the images you will need to have on your personal branding website.
● The Header Image. This is the image that will tell people they are in the right place. A header image is the first thing a website visitor will see when landing on your site. What do you want them to see? Using stock images is too generic – it’s important to make the header specific to your business if you want it to be effective. You can even combine the image with text if your brand has a standout tagline.
● Personal Branding Images. It doesn’t matter whether you sell products or offer a service, you should always include several photos of yourself on your site. People are interested to know who they are doing business with. They want to know who that impressive About Me copy is referring to. These don’t need to be boring headshots either. Your personal branding photos should showcase your personality and highlight your values and what you offer.
● The Offering. Next, include images that promote what you offer. These are generally product photos but if you offer a service, include images of yourself at work. This could be photos of you in your office, speaking at an event, or working with your team. Get a professional photographer to assist you with photos that tell a clear story of what you do, making your products or offering even more appealing.
● Behind the Scenes. Lastly, provide website visitors with some behind the scenes photos to draw them into what it’s like to do business with you. This could be anything from what goes on in meetings or your factory, to what you like to do in your spare time. Give potential customers the chance to really get to know you. By following these basic guidelines, you can create a visually attractive site that gives potential customers more than just your logo and a list of your products and services.
